Remis

Dear Journal;
Finally Robespierre has fallen; the reign of terror is over. We have reached a place were peace may be possible, with a little luck, a little work, and a lot of God. If there is one thing a man can be sure of it is that it is good to be alive. There is food for all, thanks the Lord.

What now? Perhaps we will head back to the Lord and his wandering sheep will return the church to her former glory. If we want eternal peace, we must. One day we will all be freed for the chains of fighting but I don’t think it is over yet; we are merely in the eye of the storm.

So many things have happened over the years, it has been a bumpy ride. Has it been worth it? I don’t think so. The life of one man has value above the entire vault of France. It has thought happened and there is nothing we can do to change it now. So we must not let our freedom be taken for granted. We must cherish it while it is upon us, and teach our children that love is the answer. That love will set us free.

What is this bright light in front of me. I can hardly see. Lord is that you. Are you there? I’m ready. Lets go.

Thank God for the many blessed years,

Je…..

May 9, 1794
Remis

Dear Journal;
Robespierre. A common name in many a household. I think I have already made it clear that nothing good can come from violence, and those who cause the violence, are the worst of it. He is no savior of the people, with his lies and deception. If only people could truly see what he is like. If only he would take of his mask they would no longer be ignorant of his evil.

The blood of many has paid for the Jacobin takeover of the government. What is there to gain I ask, does it really matter? No, not really. I have given up on these men to turn France into a great country with rights. To give a right to a man by taking another is not freedom. The Jacobins and all others like them merely seek to further their land and line their own pockets.

Perhaps I am too cynical, I doubt it. People are turning more and more to death in striving for peace, and still haven’t got that it doesn’t work that way. If we must fight than each other is perhaps the worst choice of enemies. God loves all Frenchmen, who are just below God, and above the English.

People will understand soon though, after God comes for us all. In my latest dream there was a wall, on one side the Jacobins and Girondins and on the other the people of France, I was standing on the wall with a blinding light at my side, I believe it was God. The light flashed and the Jacobins and Girondins fell to the ground dead, and the people ascended to heaven with the light. I was left standing on the wall alone. The other dreams have been clear to me but this one is a puzzle. All will be revealed in good time, I know though. French Revolution timeline

I suppose at least now the government has admitted to a “supreme being”, but not to God himself, this will be its downfall when the wrath of God comes upon the Earth.

The Lord shall have his way as always, which is for the best,

Jean

January 21, 1793
Remis

Dear Journal;
I have just today returned from my visit to France to witness the execution of Louis, and I believe an innocent man was killed for crimes he didn’t commit. The new parties understand the power of public opinion and they are certainly using it as a tool to their advantage.

I have no idea why the people would simply not stand for the King to be forced into exile, or to be imprisoned. Why is blood shed the theme of the decade? What’s so awful about peace? God’s will is not being implemented here, and I am starting to truly believe that the revolution is not worth the human sacrifices that have been made thus far. What good are no taxes, if there is no one left to tax anyway? As I have said before all we need to do is go back to God’s word and the answer to what we must do will become clear to us.

I was given another prophetic dream last night. In this dream I saw God in heaven, with a man in his right hand. That man walked onto a cloud and was brought down to earth. I believe the man was the one they call Napoleon, who as I best interrupt my dream is the savior. Napoleon has made a name for himself in the army and as I have heard he is invincible. He had led many charges himself, but never been injured. Who but the lard himself could do such things?

This must be one of the final signs before the Rapture, which will come soon I am sure. The children and I have been keeping in constant prayer with God to ask for God to make his will to be clear.

Lord come, come quickly,

Jean

November 1, 1792
Remis

Dear Journal;
What am I to do? I have been pressured by the congregation to give a sermon on witch side, the Jacobins or Girondins, does God support and all I can think of is that is like asking, “does God support the Devil or Satin?” God’s will is not being truly accomplished by either side. I do although know this will not be an acceptable answer for the people.

Let me think the Jacobins: have proved themselves to be murders, the Girondins have not proved this as of yet, but I don’t suppose there is much of a difference. The Girondins and Jacobins alike have called each other royalists, so no one really knows which side is telling the truth.

Really I believe despite my feelings I must chose to support the Jacobins for I believe they will win the power struggle in the end. I do this not because I see them as the lesser of two evils. I do it simply for a matter of personal safety and that of the people under my care.

I honestly believe that the people will side primarily side with the group I chose, thus putting their lives on essentially the flip of a coin. I feel horrible for this; I didn’t work to be a model of my town to control their destiny.

I had another dream last night, this time the devil had his back to me and was fighting with Michel, the Arch-Angel of God, when suddenly Michel disappeared. When the devil turned he had no face, just a black spot. I was then transported to a mob scene of fighting Jacobins and Girondins. I then woke up abruptly; I believe this was a sign from God foretelling that the Anti-Christ shall rise from the ranks of one of these groups. As of which one it is a mystery. I fear, and pray that the end is rapidly approaching.

May the Lord reveal what he has in store,

Jean

September 6, 1702
Remis

Dear Journal;
What have we done? The Jacobins appeared as saviors to the country, but now they are just a bunch of paranoid killers. They believe everyone is their enemy, and against all I have been saying for quite some time now they are using violence as a means of solving this problem. They are no better than the king, sure they give men a trial, but they can hardly be called a fair trial.

Much killing has happened since the Jacobins took power, killing innocent men, doing nothing to stop the peasants in a blind rage to go on killing more innocent men. It must stop, but when will it? When we are all dead maybe.

Some day we will all be free from this tyranny, it seems we have traded one bad king for many bad leaders. What can be done though? Nothing. I know I will do nothing, for fear of being killed, as are many others who would stand up other wise. I’m the first man to stand up and say I’m a coward. I cannot leave 3 children to fend for themselves.

How long till we will all be truly free, the Jacobins give freedom of speech, but it doesn’t seem to apply to speaking out against them. Soon they will confiscate the land and implement extreme taxes. That is probably a bit extreme of an example, but I would not say that is an impossibility. I understand that the Jacobins are simply trying to protect the revolution, but once again I find myself asking, “Do the ends justify the means?” I think not.

Last night I had a dream were the Lord spoke to me and said “soon”, and then a seven-headed dragon appeared and came at me and I woke up. I was reminded of the dragon in the prophetic book of Revelation, I believe this was a sign from God that the end is near. We shall see in good time thought I suppose. Whatever God has planned I hope he does it before things get any worse.

Let the Lords will be done on earth and in heaven,

Jean

Exert from The Paris:
My friends and brother the events of the past two days have been filled with violence. The Sans-Culottes have used unacceptable tactics forcing people to side with them. Violence leads to violence. It is never acceptable.

They need to understand that they cannot stop the revolution, it is futile. We are too many for them. They seem to believe that they are exempt from the rules. We need to root out all of these traitors and put them in jail, after of course a trial. God condemns these men for their actions.

We must continue to strive for peace were ever necessary, at any cost, except more violence. One day this will be a reality, I’m sure of it, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday we will achieve our goal.

I would also like to praise the brave work of the escorts of the men of the National Assembly, we realize there is only so much you can do in any give situation, and you went above what could be expected at the palace.

The members on the National Assembly cannot hide from these men, will not hide from these men. We are stronger then those who would see the king remain in power. We are a new breed of Frenchmen, a better breed.

We will not fail to achieve our goals, we cannot be stopped, God will keep us going,

Dear Journal;
What a gruesome decision has been placed before me, my people or the Pope. As sad as this decision truly is I know my choice, I will continue to fight with the people, I feel I must to be a fighter for God.

I have received many letters from members of my congregation and I must say that they, of course strongly agree. They feel that I am a vital part of the community and support me in any decision, but in the way they talk of staying with the Pope, they will support my decision only if it supports theirs.

God has a wonderful plan for this country, I know he truly does I just wish we could see it now. God wants nothing for his people more than peace and kindness, but I do not know how pleased his is with us at the current time. French Revolution

The children are urging me also to say the oath to the country, they fear from me, and Marc, who is the only one of the children mentally, fears for my safety. I know he just wants the best, and I understand the hardships it would cause all the kids if I went against the popular decision.

Oh well I will simply do whatever I feel God wants me to do, but I feel that is support the people.

God bless me in what ever choice I make, and curser those who forced me to make it,

October 6, 1789
Remis

Dear Journal;
I have just returned from the march on Versailles. How wonderful it was. The people were all pleased even if still hungry, they got to see the king and queen that was all they really wanted. It was also peaceful, although there were threats of fighting, coming from some of the more “egger” revolutionaries.

Let me explain just what happened, I was visiting Paris and while at the Infanta Garden a group of women approached me and asked me how I felt about the revolution, I explained my views. They were very happy about my pro-revolution thoughts, but were considerably less happy over my criticisms. They eventually decided that I was more a pro- revolutionary than an anti-revolutionary, and asked me to come with them. I decided that it was ok to go along, and we eventually met up with a larger group and walked to the Versailles to ask the king for bread. Some of the women were allowed to talk personally to the king but he said there was no bread to give. They surprisingly seemed happy enough with the answer. Later M. de La Fayette accompanied the king and Queen the balcony, were he yelled “vive le roi.” All the people we excited and yelled it with them, if I didn’t know better I would have thought they loved Louis. There was not a shot fired except when the king went into his chambers the guards shot some fake shots, I believe to celebrate the king or something of the sort. french revolution

The children did not accompany me to Paris. They remained home with Sister Kelly, on of the nuns in our town. They were all well behaved, which is surprising for they cannot sit still long enough to pray with me let alone a num, but I suppose it must have worked out well. They are getting so big, I hope food stores grow or else there will be no grain in all of France before long, and that would undue so much good work done by the revolution.

No matter, with God by our side I am confident that nothing will go terribly amiss, and by my side is were I keep him. Gold bless the revolution,

Jean

Remis

Dear Mother and Father;
How times have changed since I was at home, the revolution is in full force, the National assembly has been established, and many beneficial laws have been implemented.

The Revolution is although a double edged sword, the people will turn from God I fear, not having to pay tithes, that’s foolish, but the Assembly keeps looking God for they have promised compensation. Another thing that troubles me greatly is the confiscation of church property. We have not stolen it from the people, so what right does the government have to snatch it from us.

One thing that troubles me greatly is the reducing of power of the pope. He is the world’s direct link to God. What good has ever come for free though?

I have chosen to swear the Oath, for it makes no difference to me, I love my people and I would have abided by the oath even if there it were not in place. I find it atrocious for people to vote on their priests. God places a priest in his place, to tend his flock.

My this french revolution, I have never seen anything so good done in suck a backwards way. There are many things that will not help the people, of course they were being over taxed, but you can’t just say lets get rid of it for example. Some men don’t like vegetables, they still eat. Some women don’t like to cook and sew; yet they continue. No one likes to give a portion of their money to the church, but God calls us to do so.

Some day a balance between what people need and want may be achieved, but I fear it will not be today.

What France need now is a strong ruler, not ridicules demands becoming law. Hopefully someone will step forward, and do a good job to restore peace and order to this poor economy. Hopefully everyone will have their fill of bread and wine, but I fear the Lord himself would have to come down.

God bless, and love XOXO

Jean

Remis

Dear Journal;

The tragedies that have happened over the past weeks have been many and monstrous. Why can’t we all just act like human beings and solve things without violence? Only God knows. People can’t seem to weigh the value of human life, but then again if ten must die to save hundreds then I suppose….

Mob mentality has seemed to take people over; causing men to do thing that no one would do alone, unwarranted executions and such. I fear for my life as well, even though I am well respected in the community and most men love me I find it impossible not to think it could be a possibility with all the recent happenings.

Change must come about, and soon or it will be too late for all of us. Violence however is not the answer, it’s the problem. Men have been abusing their power right from Cain and Abel. We seem unable to not fight one another, we must take what is our, no one will give it to us. It’s a sad world we live in were violence seems the only answer, but we must look for one other than killing each other.

If we use violence to bring about change then we are no better than those who have used it for years to force us into oppression. We must take a stand; make a battle, against violence.

The Lord calls us all to not kill one another, but to embrace each other as brother. Invite one another to share our tables in times of trouble, and feast at theirs in times of need.

If we cannot learn to share, and work for the betterment of the nation then we will accomplish nothing. The poor will become rich and the rich poor, then they will revolt in another hundred years. Violence brings violence. It’s when people sit down and think rationally that problems get solved.

We french people must follow the peaceful teachings of God and strive to be more peaceable; the only problem that remains is convincing other of this point’s validity.
In these times of trouble may God watch over us all,
Jean
